The Day I Met Jesus

Wereldbibliotheek is one of the most recognized publishers in the Netherlands – also graphically.

A picture of Jesus was omitted to make the book more appealing to non-believers, but the pelican is a fiercely concrete Christian symbol for Christ dating back to the 2nd century. In the Greek book Physiologus, it was written about the bird that its young strike out at their mother’s face after birth, so she rips their heads off. On the third day, she pecks a hole in her breast and drips blood on them to bring them back to life.
